Parish Advisory Volunteer Group

Mission Statement

Called by God our Father, compelled by the Gospels and guided by the Canons of the Roman Catholic Church,
we, the community of St Joan of Arc Parish, find our identity and our mission activity in the imitation of Christ.

Strengthened by the Holy Spirit, we respond to God’s call to live the gospel through our commitment to:

Faithful Worship
Evangelization
Education
Service to the Needy
Stewardship

As a consultative body “representative of” the whole parish community, the purpose of this Group shall be:

To maintain, as individuals and as a body, an active life of prayer and discipleship in response to God’s call;

To assist the pastor in assuring the effectiveness of the parish mission through recommendations and active cooperation in setting broad policy directions for the parish;

To provide an open, honest, mature, confidential and respectful forum for communication and dialogue regarding parish affairs;

To actively encourage the engagement of all parish members in the life and ministry of the parish;

To take whatever action it may deem appropriate to fulfill the purpose of this Group.

The Group shall perform the following functions as consultative recommendations to the pastor:

Annually review and reflect on the parish vision and mission priorities.

Collaborate with the pastor to annually review and update the need and goals of the parish and the priorities among such needs and goals.

Review and recommend approval to the pastor the proposed annual parish budget prepared by the Finance Committee, including proposed budgets from all ministries and operations subsidized by parish funds.

Obtain and review the proposed annual goals and strategies prepared by the Ministry Committees and recommend any changes as warranted by the goals of the parish.

Provide to all parishioners, an annual perspective on the current ministerial life and direction of the parish.
